Chillan

Travel brochure

I spent the September holidays in the city of Chillan. It is a beautiful city, it is located in the province of ñuble   near the Andes mountain range in the 8^th region. Chillan has beautiful meadows and fields with a pure green grass. I liked this city so I’m going to write a travel brochure mentioning the best restaurants, hotels, the best places to do some tourism etc.

Geographical location

Chillan is located in the 8^th region, it’s the capital of the province of Ñuble, is the biggest city of the 8^th region after Concepcion its boundaries are san Nicolas and san carlos at the north and Chillan Viejo at the south. It is located near termas de Chillan so it is very popular for that considering  termas de Chillan is the most important ski centre of Chile

Attractions

The main attraction in the city of Chillan is going to termas de Chillan, the biggest ski center in chile, there you can stay in the gran hotel the best hotel in termas de chillan, you can also rent a cabin or go for the day, the ticket for skiing costs 13000 Chilean pesos a bit expensive but it´s worth it.

Besides skiing you can do many other activities such as climbing the chillan volcanoe, doing  tiroleza (canopy) or just doing  expeditions. Also a big tourism place is the pincheira cave, the cave of the famous bandits of the 19^th century of chile. You can also go to valle las trancas, a beautiful place full of farms, and green fields.

Food

Chillan has some of the most typical Chilean food, here in chillan you can eat many dishes such as porotos Granados, longanizas, empanadas de horno, cazuela de pavo, anticuchos . the best places to eat here traditional and   non-traditional food are the following:

History

Chillan was founded the 26 of june of the year 1580 by the Spanish general and gobernor of chile martin ruiz de gamboa. Here bernardo o’higgins was born, the      ‘liberator’ of chile. In 1835 chillan was founded again because a grat earthquake moved the river almost 1km                                    giving birth to chillan Viejo and chillan Nuevo. In 1939 there was another earthquake that almost destroyed the entire city and killed 30.000 people being the deadliest earthquake in the Chilean history. Chillan is the homecity of many artists and musicians among them Claudio arrau, ramon viñay, marta colvin, and Arturo Pacheco altamirano.

               

Culture

In chillan  there are many cultural centers like the plaza d armas where we can find bernardo O’higgins statue and within meters there s a feria where typical salesmen sale longanizas or typical dishes. A few blocks past the commercial Centre we can find a museum dedicated to the music legacy o the world class pianist Claudio arrau. The museum exhibits instruments and th pianist personal things. We can also visit the chillan market, an enormous place with many shops and typical food restaurants.

                        

                          EXPECTATIVAS PARA LAS VACACIONES DE SEPTIMBRE

  Estas vacaciones de septiembre sera largas ya que no iré a la gira así es que las quiero aprovechar al máximo. tal vez pueda ir a esquiar o ir a santiago pero pase lo que pase quiero que valgan la pena.
